Well, it’s currently Thursday and I’m writing my first entry of the week. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been busy after hours or I just haven’t had much to say, but that’s neither here nor there. If you can tell, my blog got a much-needed facelift and I’m pretty happy. I started looking at my friends’ blogs and theirs were all cute and professional looking and mine basically looked like a 12-year-old girl had made it. So, change was needed. This week at the office has been good. I finally feel pretty settled in to a routine of things and I’m just trying to learn and get as much done as I possibly can. Today I got to sit in at a news meeting and that was pretty fun. I had been to one previously with the AJ and their stuff looks (generally) similar. It’s the same company and all of that. So, I finally understood what the things on the budget meant and that was pretty exciting for me. The last time — in Lubbock — when they handed me a budget I wasn’t quite sure what the numbers and such were supposed to mean because at The DT we used….well, a piece of paper or a sticky note or whatever was on hand. I also had the opportunity to complete one of my staff interviews and I have the other one next week, so it’s good to know I’m getting things knocked out.
So, I did have a kind of funny experience today and I hope she’s okay with me rehashing the details. So, I was talking to my mom on the phone today and she was talking about the possibility of flying to Boston on Fourth of July. That is no longer the plan, so no burglars, the house will not be empty. Just FYI. So, she said she was kind of nervous about terrorism because big place, holiday, you know, it makes sense. So she told my dad and he said the thought had also crossed his mind so that combined with a couple other factors, no more flight plans. Well, after that we were just talking and she asked me if it sounded like someone was on the other line. Well, either I am now flagged by the NSA OR my apartment has ghosts. I am currently living in one of the most haunted cities in America, so. There’s that.
This weekend I’m hoping to go to the farmer’s market and visit some museums. I need some history and substance in my life.
Also, I’m getting to the halfway point where I’m REALLY missing Lubbock, Houston, my family, my niece and nephew and last but certainly not least, my boyfriend. Oh, also Hannah and Amanda and my big and my little.
Now playing? Breathe In, Breathe Out – Hillary Duff. Check it out y’all.
So, Friday was a good day. Except for getting stood up but that’s neither here not there. Thursday night I spent quite a bit of time talking about a multitude of different topics with el mpenzi. Yes, I did just mix two languages. No, I don’t really know either of them. Friday was great and filled with interviews and working on stories and that makes me happy. Then I got a list of a bunch of museums in Savannah. Yay. Then I went home. The end.
Oh, also, I decided I’m going to go back to the humane society tomorrow and see who they have for me again. It’s also name your own price adoptions so, mom – I’m resisting the urge. 🙂
Finally, I met my other roommate today. She’s fabulous. #JustSaying
